Women, as opposed to men, earn virtually nothing as of Thursday in Slovakia. The director of the Gender Equality and Equal Opportunities Department of the Labour Ministry Oľga Pietruchová announced this at a discussion on unequal salaries between men and women on Thursday, called it the Equal Pay Day. "If men are paid 100% for 365 days, women are paid only 82% of their wage which means they work for nothing for the next 61 days," informed Pietruchová. The difference between the two genders in terms of salary is thus an average of 18% in Slovakia.
