Slovakia should strive for China's projected 'Silk Road' to pass through its territory, Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini said to the TASR news agency some days prior. Pellegrini stressed that Slovakia has long endeavoured to build strong relations with China, which is paramount in order to certify and export Slovak foodstuffs to the Chinese market. The prime minister added that trade between East and West is becoming increasingly dynamic, with Slovakia currently a transit country for oil and gas. He explained that he would like it to "remain an artery for the transit of goods" and to perhaps become home to distribution centres as trade increases.
