Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini (Smer-SD) sustained only mild injuries following the collision of his government limousine with a stag earlier on Wednesday, while en route to an away-from-home government session in Kežmarok (Prešov region), TASR learnt on Tuesday afternoon. This was the first traffic accident experienced by Pellegrini as a constitutional official. "The check-up didn't uncover anything serious; it might be just a light distortion of the spine. I've been issued a neck brace to wear while travelling in a car and maybe for a next few days until this settles. The CT scan didn't reveal any other injuries," claimed Pellegrini. The Prime Minister added that neither he nor the driver managed to react or even notice the approaching stag and that there was no way to prevent the collision. "Seriously, we all need to pay attention on the roads. A collision with an animal is extremely unpleasant. Thank God that we didn't hit the stag a bit later, when he would have been on the hood, as a tragedy much worse could have happened through the windshield," stated Pellegrini, reiterating that he won't ever forget the Tuesday visit to Kežmarok.
