In an exclusive for RTVS and Slovak Radio and after the approval of all presidential candidates, the Chairman of the National Council held a survey in regards to the election of the President of the Slovak Republic.
Respondents were asked this question: “The presidential elections will be held in Slovakia in mid-March. Imagine, however, that these were to take place this weekend and the next president would be chosen from a list of candidates whose names which appear in alphabetical order. Which one would you vote for?” From a representative sample of 1,010 respondents in the survey, eleven and a half percent were unable to answer the question, and six percent of the respondents would not vote. The results were taken from a sample of the population aged 18 and over and categorised in terms of gender, age, level of education, nationality, municipal size, and county. In their decision, the respondents split their preferences as follows:
Robert Fico 40 %
Andrej Kiska 13 %
Milan Kňažko 11.8 %
Pavol Hrušovský 8.2%
Radoslav Procházka 7.7%
Helena Mezenská 5.5%
Gyula Bárdos 5.3%
Ján Čarnogurský 4.3%
William Fischer 1.8%
Peter Osuský 1.1%
