New parliamentary session to deal also with political party names

New parliamentary session to deal also with political party names

At the upcoming 35th session of Parliament, which starts on Tuesday, MPs have 88 discussion points to deal with. Among the most anticipated is the act on political parties as well as the act on the incomes of mayors and members of municipal councils. The draft act on political parties, as proposed by the Slovak National Party, wants among other measures to ban the name of the party leader being part of the official party's name. This is to prevent the image of the party being owned by one person. Such measure would affect parliamentary parties such as "We are family - Boris Kollár" or the far right "Kotleba - People's party our Slovakia".
