The Senate of the Bratislava I District Court dismissed the indictment of the Regional Prosecution Office against Nishit T., a Slovak citizen of Indian origin, who was accused of killing a 37-year old man last October in the center of Bratislava. On Monday, the court concluded that the killing had happened as an act of necessary defense, as also confirmed by the footage from security cameras located on the nearby German embassy. In reference to the fact that Nishit T. used a knife to defend himself, the supervising judge stated that a defending person does always not have to choose the smallest method of defense. However, the judge added that the initial aggression towards the defendant had no racial motif. The verdict is not yet final, as the prosecutor and the family of the deceased have appealed against it.
