The Head of the News Department in the radio section of Radio Television Slovakia, Petra Stano Maťašovská resigned from the office on Monday. According to her statement, she handed in her resignation to protect the public broadcaster from the unprecedented pressure of some politicians over the past few days. Last week, the parliamentary opposition asked for Maťašovská's departure after an internal document she sent to editors, requesting them not to cover in their short news draft bills and amendments submitted by the opposition MPs. Maťašovská had been head of the news department since last October.
