Economic cooperation, the environment and sustainable development are the main topics to be discussed at the three day Euro-Asian parliamentary summit which starts in Turkey on Monday. Slovak Speaker of Parliament Andrej Danko is one of only three speakers from the national councils of EU countries. Before leaving for Turkey, Danko criticized the sanctions against Russia imposed after Russia's annexation of Crimea and intervention in Ukraine. Moreover, he shared a video of his speech made in the Russian Duma from 2017, which had sparked controversy. At the time, the Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Minister had criticized Danko for his speech since it had not been consulted to check whether it was in line with Slovak foreign policy.
