Foreign Minister in Ukraine

The situation concerning the conflict in the eastern part of Ukraine was one of the main points of the talks of Slovak Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajčák in Ukraine, TASR learnt on Thursday. "The issue of the conflict in the east of Ukraine is one of the central issues in the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and we'll undoubtedly inherit it in the upcoming presidency," the minister said on the first day of his two-day visit to Ukraine. Slovakia will take over the annual OSCE presidency in January 2019. "I'll use my talks with Ukrainian partners to listen to their assessment of the mission and to try to define the rate of ambitions of our presidency in this area," added the minister. The minister visited the Ukrainian Parliament on Thursday afternoon and met with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko. During the first day of his visit to Ukraine, he handed out humanitarian aid from Slovakia for two entities. A total of €25,000 was sent for the needs of the Life Line project providing health care to Ukrainian citizens at the Luhansk railway station checkpoint. The Luhansk Regional Children's Hospital in Lysychansk was given a symbolic certificate worth €38,867.
