More than 800 new jobs should be created in the district Košice and surroundings by 2020. This stems from the action development plan approved by the government at its away-from-home session in the village of Ploské, in Eastern Slovakia, on Wednesday. According to the Deputy Prime Minister for Investments and Informatization Richard Raši, more than 71 million euros could land in the least developed district in the coming five years. A sum of 66 million euros will be allocated from EU funds and almost 5 million euros from the regional contribution. According to Raši, boosting employment in the Košice surroundings will enable the demands currently placed on the city of Košice itself to be lowered. The Slovak Government is continuing in its away sessions on Thursday, too, when it will be meeting in the storm-hit village of Lekárovce. The strong windstorm which blew through eastern Slovakia on Wednesday evening damaged 30-40 houses and swept away the roof of the local community centre in Lekárovce.
