New poll shows former RTVS chief leading the race as future Bratislava mayor

At the request of Bratislava mayoral candidate Matúš Vallo's campaign team, the Focus polling agency carried out a survey in September to gauge Bratislava residents' preferred mayor, ahead of upcoming local government elections. The survey revealed that, if local elections were held today, the former head of the public broadcaster Radio & Television Slovakia (RTVS), Václav Mika, would become mayor, with 23.7% of the vote. He was followed closely by incumbent mayor Ivo Nesrovnal (23.5%), Matúš Vallo (21.4%) and Ján Mrva (20.2%). In comparison to the same survey conducted in July, the fastest growing candidate is Matúš Vallo (+4.2%), while incumbent mayor Ivo Nesrovnal took a substantial fall in popularity (-7.4%) amongst voters. The latest survey was conducted between the 19th to 26th of September via personal and telephone queries, covering a sample size of 800 respondents. Local government elections will take place nationwide on November 10, 2018.
