Slovakia will not show a lack of solidarity and could receive Syrian orphans which are now in Greece, said Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini at the weekend. As he added, if Slovakia takes this step, children would not go to refugee camps but to orphanages. According to Zuzana Števulová of the Human Rights League, if Slovakia receives these children, it would be important to ease up their access to replacement families in order to help them integrate into society. The premier stressed that it had not yet been decided and he will also discuss the possibilities with Foreign Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák (a Smer-SD nominee). However, Pellegrini rejected mandatory relocation quotas on migrants again.
