On Friday, the National Criminal Agency aka NAKA announced that it would provide further information on the police raid in Kolárovo, southern Slovakia, next week. The raid took more than 12 hours on Thursday. Top state representatives reacted to the fact that the police apprehended suspects in the double murder of investigative journalist Ján Kuciak and his fiancée on Thursday. During his working trip to Chicago, President Andrej Kiska said that he had repeatedly assured the public that the best people were engaged in the investigation. As he added, this was just the first step towards restoring people's trust in the state. The head of the country also pointed to the need to find out who ordered the murder. Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini appreciated the highly professional work of the police, investigators as well as prosecutors. He expressed his support to the police in their effort to disclose new facts that would either validate or refute the assumptions. Parliamentary chair Andrej Danko finds detaining the suspects a considerable progress in the investigation. Prosecutor-General Jaromír Čižnár asked journalists to exercise restraint when reporting on the case in order not to thwart the investigation. Ján Kuciak was an investigative journalist working for the news website Aktuality.sk. He and his fiancée were murdered in their house in Veľká Mača, southern Slovakia, on February 21, 2018 with gunshots from a 9 mm pistol.
