81 year old conned into handing over her cash & jewels

A female pensioner from the Levice district was robbed of gold jewelry and cash by an unknown conman, reported TASR on Tuesday. According to Božena Bruchterova, spokesperson for the Nitra Regional Police Headquarters, a man calling himself Doctor Macko called the victim, claiming that the victim's son had been injured in an accident, and the alleged doctor demanded compensation to remain silent about the unsavoury situation surrounding the accident. The 81 year old pensioner handed over €2000 in cash and an estimated €1000 worth of gold jewelry. Police are working intensively to clarify and solve the case. "We warn the elderly in particular not to be deceived. Fraudsters, under various pretenses, will mislead seniors and guide them towards handing over savings or valuable items," stated Bruchterova.
