No agreement on minimum wage for 2019

No agreement on minimum wage for 2019

The Government, trade unions and employers representative failed to arrive at an agreement on the minimum wage for next year at their meeting on Monday. Both trade unions and employers rejected the government's proposal to increase the minimum wage to €520 per month, before taxes. "If we copied how the average salary has developed, the minimum wage would be increased to €502," said the Association of Industrial Unions (APZ) vice-chairman Alexander Matušek. Meanwhile, the Trade Union Confederation (KOZ) continues to defend its proposal that the minimum wage should go up to €635. The Labour Minister Jan Richter will now submit a proposal to the Cabinet to increase the minimum wage to €520. The Government should take a decision on this respect next month.
