Storm Fabienne hits Slovakia, thousands without electricity

Strong winds caused extensive electricity outages in central Slovakia on Monday morning and there are currently over 12,000 offtake points without electricity. This comes as a result of the storm /Fabienne hitting Slovakia overnight. The most affected localities include the surroundings of Banská Bystrica, and the Kysuce, Orava and Liptov areas. According to the weather portal imeteo.sk, the strongest wind was measured on the Lomnický peak in the High Tatras, reaching up to 173 km/h. The trains in the High Tatras region could not operate for a few hours since trees had fallen on the track.
