Professional soldiers and the Defence Ministry celebrated on Saturday in Brezová pod Bradlom the Day of Slovak Armed Forces as well as the 25 years of an independent Slovak military. In Slovakia, September 22 is celebrated as the Day of the Slovak Armed forces in commemoration of the first victorious battle of Slovak volunteers against the Hungarian national guards in Brezová pod Bradlom within the 1848 Slovak Uprising, when Slovakia was part of the Kingdom of Hungary.
