Ukraine Signs Draft Agreement on Gas Supply via Slovakia

Ukraine Signs Draft Agreement on Gas Supply via Slovakia

Kiev has signed the draft agreement on reverse gas supplies via Slovakia and subsequently sent it to Slovakia, confirmed the Ukrainian Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Eduard Stavitsky on Wednesday. However he did not specify any additional information on the Memorandum of agreement.

We brought you this story a month ago, when Ukraine showed signs of hesitation towards this draft agreement while the Slovak side, the Slovak gas carrier Eustream, was ready to ink it. This came all after Russia dropped its price of natural gas for Ukraine by about one-third. Representatives of the Slovak and Ukrainian companies are now to meet in Bratislava to discuss further details of this memorandum of agreement. Spokesperson of the Slovak gas carrier Eustream noted that the Memorandum is only a statement of intent, it’s signing would not necessarily imply that the project of supplying gas from Slovakia to Ukraine will become a reality.
