Survey: Standard of living improving for Slovaks

More than one-third of Slovaks are satisfied with their standard of living and many expect further improvement, according to a recent survey carried out by Partners Foundation and the pollster Focus in June this year. In Slovakia, unemployment hit its historic low, real wages are rising as well as savings in banks and household consumption. Financial literacy remains a problem among Slovaks, however. As many as 85% of people spend more than the recommended 40% of their monthly income for consumption. Nearly two-thirds of Slovaks consider it normal to take a short-term loan or go into overdraft.
