One man was fatally shot and another two wounded during a jewellery store robbery in Bratislava’s busy Obchodná Street on Tuesday afternoon, according to Emergency Medical Care Operational Centre spokesperson Boris Chmel.
According to early information the shooting occurred during the robbery of a jewellery shop in the late afternoon, with the 66 year old owner of the shop being fatally wounded and unable to be revived by paramedics. The 63 year old wife of the owner was also shot, and a third man suffered a broken leg; however both are in a stable condition in hospital, according to Health Ministry spokesperson Martina Lidinská. Trams were disrupted on the popular shopping strip for an hour due to emergency services, with normal tram services resuming at 6:20 PM. Police are appealing for information from the public and detectives are following leads on the case.
