The chair of the European people's party Manfred Weber announced on Wednesday his intention to run for the position of European Commission President. The Slovak European Commissioner for the Energy Union and Commission Vice President, Maroš Šefčovič, is also interested in the position. In an interview for the TASR press agency, Šefčovič disclosed that he believes their fight for the office will be fair. He also noted that all the member countries should take the upcoming European elections seriously, as they should determine what position Europe would play in the global field this century.
