Police to Send Traffic Fines via Post

Slovak police will no longer need to stop the driver of a vehicle to issue them a fine personally, with rules changing to allow the fine to be mailed to the owner of the vehicle instead.

“Drivers should be aware that they don’t need to be stopped by the roadside when violating traffic laws; instead, fines will be sent to their homes”, said Denisa Baloghová, spokesperson for Police Headquarters. The recipient of such a fine will be able to pay just two-thirds of the fine if paid for within 15 days. This comes as part of a larger effort to reduce Slovakia’s road toll.
