Bratislava to house one of Europe’s most modern stadiums

Bratislava will soon have one of the most modern and, in some ways, even the most modern football stadium in Europe, stated Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini (Smer-SD) after visiting the construction site of the National Football Stadium (NFS) on Tuesday, admitting that the state's investments in this project will be higher than expected in the initial tender. According to Ivan Kmotrík Sr., the head of the construction investor, the price has changed due to increased labour costs and new UFA demands regarding lighting and stadium infrastructure. "It will be €7 million, perhaps €12 million more expensive," said Kmotrík. The stadium should receive final commissioning approval by the end of the year or early in 2019. The new stadium is supposed to be built for €49.81 million, excluding VAT.
