Maintaining the Ukrainian corridor is important for securing deliveries of natural gas to European customers, according to Slovak gas carrier Eustream. "We therefore support such a solution that will establish conditions for the long-term use of the Ukrainian network, even in the case of the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline," said Eustream's spokesperson Pavol Kubík. The Nord Stream 2 pipeline is supposed to complement the existing gas pipeline that directly links Russia and Germany. It should double the volume of gas that Russia can deliver to Germany while circumventing transit Central European countries. Germany's eastern neighbours disagree with this plan, with the USA also rejecting it.
