26th anniversary of the signature of the Slovak constitution

On Saturday, Slovaks commemorated the 26 years since the signature of the Slovak constitution which took place on September 1st 1992. On this occasion, Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini praised the document stating that "no crucial changes were necessary during its existence. There's a need to honour it, but we don't have to be afraid of potential changes to it if these are beneficial," stressed Pellegrini. However, experts believe that the Slovak constitution has been changing at too fast a pace. "The Americans have had their Constitution for 200 years and changed it 27 times. We have changed ours 17 times in 25 years," said Jozef Vozár of the State and Law institute at the Slovak Academy of Sciences last year.
