Slovak diplomacy is paying increased attention to the case involving Ukrainian filmmaker Oleg Sentsov, wrote the Slovak Foreign Ministry on social media on Sunday. It thus reacted to a petition initiated by a platform called Slovakia and the Czech Republic for Oleg Sentsov, which has been addressed to top political representatives. In the past, the ministry took steps urged by the signatories. The ministry views the fact that the Russian Federation sentenced Sentsov for a crime that allegedly took place outside its territory as a violation of international law. Oleg Sentsov was arrested in 2014 in Crimea on suspicion of plotting terrorist acts by Russian authorities. He denies the accusations and human rights organisations as well as figures from world cinematography and the media have been expressing support for him.
