Three-quarters of Slovaks admit to having difficulties with paying their current expenses. These households have difficulties paying for basic expenditures such as clothing, food, and pet supplies, says an analysis of the Postova Banka based on data from the Slovak Statistics Office.
“The highest proportion of households with such difficulties can be found in the Banska Bystrica region, which is a region with one of the highest unemployment rates”, explains Postova Banka analyst Eva Sadovska. On the other hand, people in Bratislava seem to have the least difficulties with making ends meet, although seven out of ten households here also admit to having similar problems. Single-parent families, as well as retirees, are the most endangered groups when it comes to paying their regular expenses.
