After a summer hiatus, the government met on Wednesday to discuss a number of planned issues, from negotiating changes in the manner in which the police president is elected, to changes in the selection of constitutional judges. "This adjustment is indeed better and creates stricter conditions for the election of constitutional judges than exist today, so it is definitely a move for the better," said Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini before the government session, speaking to TASR. Among other topics discussed were exotic pets, with the government agreeing to impose fees on registering exotic and rare animals as of January, in order to help ease the financial on the country's administration. Additionally, the government approved a UN recommendation to collect data on racial discrimination and combat organisations that expand it, while improving the integration opportunities for migrants. One noteworthy item discussed at Wednesday's government meeting included the approval of the National Oncological Program (NOP); a health care plan focusing on monitoring and combatting oncological diseases in an effort to reduce the incidence and mortality of cancer patients, while improving their quality of life.
