In 2017, Tax Cobra discovered fraud totalling over €97 million, of which unpaid excessive VAT stood at nearly €5.641 million, said Prosecutor-General's Office spokesperson Andrea Predajnová on Monday. According to her, "the results demonstrate a high level of effectiveness and success in the given cases, where the effectiveness of tax checks reached up to 87.17%." Tax Cobra was set up in January 2012. Until December 2017, fraud worth over €807 million has been uncovered, of which unpaid excessive VAT deductions made up more than €82 million.
