Economic and social council discuss minimum wage

Members of the Parliamentary Economic and social council met on Monday. The key point of the discussion was the hike in the minimum wage. The Labour Ministry came with the proposal of EUR 520, up by EUR 40, with the aim of making jobs more attractive than being on social benefits. Trade Unions expect more, asking for the Slovak minimum wage to reach EUR 635 following the European Economic and Social Committee recommendation of setting the minimum wage to at least 60% of average salaries. The Federation of Employers' Associations of the Slovak Republic asks for valid economic and social indicators and law based criteria to be respected.
