If a general election had taken place in mid-August, the senior governing party Smer-SD would have been the winner with 21.4 percent of the votes. According to an AKO agency poll, it would be followed by the Opposition Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) on 15.7 percent and the junior coalition Slovak National Party (SNS) on 11 percent. The far-right People's Party Our Slovakia (LSNS) came fourth on 10.9 percent, closely followed by We Are Family on 10.3 percent. Only three more parties would have made it into Parliament - OĽaNO - 8.4 percent, the Christian Democrats (KDH) - 6.1 percent, and the third governing party Most-Hid - 5.3 percent. New liberal parties Progressive Slovakia and Together would both have been below the 5-percent threshold to make it into Parliament, having received 4.1 percent and 3.3 percent, respectively. Also below the line was the ethnic-Hungarian SMK on 3 percent. No other party received more than 1 percent in the poll.
