Sagan quits European Championship due to health issues

Slovak road cyclist and three-time world champion Peter Sagan did not finish the 2018 European Championships race in Glasgow on Sunday due to health issues. Although the Slovak cyclist managed to catch up with the peloton following a puncture, he gradually lost contact with the leading cyclists and eventually ended his challenge for a second European champion title some 84 kilometres before the finish line. The 28-year-old cyclist told RTVS that he was suffering from a cold and that he could still feel the injuries that he picked up due to his fall towards the end of Tour de France. Italian Matteo Trentin eventually won the race and became the European Champion.
