The Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA) has selected the road movie titled Tlmočník (The Interpreter, 2018) as the national nominee for the category of best foreign language film at the 2019 Academy Awards in February, TASR learnt from SFTA PR manager Peter Gašparík on Tuesday. Directed by Slovak director Martin Šulík, the movie follows the story of two elderly men who are on their journey throughout Slovakia, partly linked and partly divided by a common past. The was premiered at the Berlinale film festival in February and is also set to compete in the European Film Awards, sometimes called the European Oscars.
