Two more civil candidates, cardiologist Viliam Fischer and scientist Milan Melník have presented to parliament on Thursday their petition sheets. Another civic candidate, MP Radoslav Procházka, presented to parliament a petition with around 40,000 signatures. SMK candidate Gyula Bárdos also presented his collected signatures to parliament.
The Communist Party of Slovakia is also sending a candidate for president into the race. He is Jan Jurista, former Slovak Ambassador to Argentina. The Party for Modern Slovakia (SMS) handed over a petition of citizens in support of the candidacy of Jozef Šimko. On Wednesday, Speaker of Parliament Pavol Paška (SMER-SD) also confirmed six presidential candidates. So far, confirmed official candidates are Peter Osuský from SaS, SMER-SD candidate and current PM Robert Fico, Pavol Hrušovský supported by KDH, Most-Hid, and SDKU-DS and civic candidates Jozef Behyl, Andrej Kiska and Jan Čarnogurský. Also Milan Kňažko handed over documents for his candidacy to parliament on Wednesday. A record 15 candidates will be on the ballot card on the 15th May.
