Researchers gathered under the banner "Science Wants to Live!" will hold a protest on Friday, August 3, at 8:45 am on the premises of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAV) in Bratislava and Košice. They are pointing to the fact that the academy has been in a critical situation due to the Ministry of Education's failure to register it in the Register of Public Research Institutions in order to be able to access grants and cooperate with companies. "This fact paralyzes the activity of the academy's research institutes and seriously threatens our future," said the initiators of the protest Fedor Gömöry, Imrich Barak and Miloslav Bahna. They are asking the Education Ministry to fulfill its duty by August 8th. The representatives of the Academy's management and the Trade Union Association will join the protest. The Education Ministry argues that it is the fault of researchers who did not submit all the required documents on time.
