Berlin-based investigators are convinced that the ex-communist official Trinh Xuan Thanh, who was kidnapped in the German capital last year, was transported to his homeland by a Slovak Government aircraft. There are no doubts about this, according to the daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung which quoted records from the Berlin criminal office. The newspaper also states that the transport of the kidnapped Vietnamese was the subject of a meeting between former Slovak Interior Minister Róbert Kaliňák and his Vietnamese counterpart. In the past, Kaliňák had repeatedly denied that Slovakia was involved in kidnapping the man, who was later condemned to life imprisonment in Vietnam. On Tuesday, Slovak Police Chief Milan Lučanský said his institution has been cooperating with the German authorities in this case.
