Slovak Labour Minister Ján Richter is calling for stricter controls concerning the provision of social services. Richter said that regional authorities in eight self-governing regions should take over this duty. He informed media in reaction to the burning issue in a senior facility in the capital called Iris, where several elderly people died. The enquiries are ongoing and the police has accused a 51-year-old man acting as doctor and an 18-year-old girl acting as a nurse in the senior house. Both allegedly treated the elderly people with psychoactive drugs.
