The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has presented a solution in the fight against extreme droughts. In a Wednesday press conference in Bratislava, Agriculture Minister Gabriela Matečná announced that the Ministry has now opened applications for land owners for the construction, reconstruction and modernisation of irrigation systems with a total cash pool of €22 million being allocated. Matečná stated that this year has been extremely dry to the detriment of cereal crops and many Slovak irrigation facilities are in need of reconstruction. The Agricultural Payments Agency (PPA) has given until November 15, 2018 for farmers to submit their plans to take advantage of the grants.
