Free Wi-Fi to continue in Bratislava City Centre

The city of Bratislava will continue to provide free Wi-Fi, which is currently being used by around 80,000 people per month and has been accessed by 170,000 people overall since the service was set up two years ago during Slovakia's EU presidency, TASR reports. "It's a matter of course for us to provide such services for people from Bratislava and visitors to the city, considering that most information nowadays is concentrated in virtual form," said Bratislava mayor Ivo Nesrovnal. People connect to the free wi-fi most frequently from the Main Square, Hviezdoslav Square and SNP Square, transmitting 170 GB of data per day on the network in total. Meanwhile, 40 percent of connections are initiated by foreigners, said Alžbeta Melicharová, managing board chair at the Bratislava Tourist Board.
