Slovakia Has a National Strategy to Protect Biodiversity

An updated National Biodiversity Strategy to 2020 was approved by the Government on Wednesday.

“Eco-systems are still considered a public good with no added value, thus their significance is underrated. Distraught natural capital and exhausted natural resources could become a handicap for the country in the future”, reads the strategy. Overall, 40.3 percent of higher plants and 59 percent of vertebrates are at risk in Slovakia.
