Slovakia, like the other 27 EU countries, does not want a hard Brexit, that is the United Kingdom's exit from the European Union without a political agreement and without a declaration on future mutual relations, stressed the head of Slovakia's Permanent Representation to the EU, Peter Javorčík, on Friday. Otherwise, without an agreement, EU citizens living in the UK as well as British citizens in the EU will experience the consequences of a hard Brexit as early as March 30, 2019. "If there is no agreement, the UK will be a third country for the EU, and EU citizens, including Slovaks, will be third-country nationals for the British authorities and will be subject to the same rules as other non-EU citizens, that is less advantageous [rules] than they have now or that they would have if an agreement on a controlled Brexit were reached," said Javorčík.
