Dual education in Slovakia growing

As of July, more than 2,600 pupils are currently involved in dual education, according to the State Vocational Education Institute, which is implementing the National Project for Dual Education of the program and increasing the attractiveness and quality of vocational education and training. The goal is to involve 12,000 pupils in dual education by the end of 2020, said Tomáš Kurťanský from the promotional team for the national project. He added that there was interest in education for industry in all regions, while Nitra, Trenčín and Žilina regions dominated, he added. The dual education is reacting to a lack of workers in technical fields. In 2017, the Slovak Automotive Industry Association conducted a study which indicated that by 2021, Slovakia would need 14,000 new employees in the car industry.
