Conflict prevention a top priority for Slovakia

Effective multilateralism and conflict prevention are among Slovakia's framework priorities during its one-year Presidency of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) due to take place in 2019, said Deputy Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Minister Lukáš Parízek on Thursday. "We want to prove that we aren't just security consumers, but that we're also able to provide security by raising sensitive topics and trying to find not just a debate, but also a consensus in order to be able to move forward with some sensitive topics," said Parízek who is the special representative for the OSCE presidency. Slovakia will try to be proactive by dealing with problems such as the Roma issue, freedom of the media, including journalist safety, added Parízek, noting that the specific priorities of Slovakia's Presidency in OSCE will be known in January.
