Education Minister Dušan Čaplovič (SMER-SD) is planning cuts for students who are not considered in demand on the labour market. His ministry will submit to the Cabinet session on Wednesday a paper including a list of superfluous positions, the preparations for which will be less supported by the state from next year.
The changes will affect 10,000 students. Then again, the ministry also published a list of study programs that will be subsidised more generously. Some 1,868 pupils are in these programs at present. The state expects that higher subsidies will increase the number of school leavers specialised in those fields in the labour market.
