The Government Council for Crime Prevention is asking the state for at least €27,000 to extend the Closed Circuit Television Camera system in Košice with four more cameras in order to cover the north of the Old Town in the city centre.
“The project aims to extend the CCTV system northwards, where it currently does not have any cameras”, explains the head of the mayor's office Marcel Gibóda. These four cameras would be placed in locations with an increased incidence of unlawful acts and anti-social behaviour. “If we succeed [with funding], the installation should begin in the spring”, said Gibóda, adding that the cameras would be operated under the supervision of the municipal police.
