The Slovak economy has become a transit one in terms of its workforce, said Peter Dosedla Director of Express People, an international head hunting company. Dosedla also added that when it came to citizens from non-EU countries, the cycle of Slovakia's attractivity has shortened. "For the Polish or Romanian job markets, the Slovak economy was attractive for more than 10 years, however, looking at the Serbian job market, we observe a shortening of the attractivity to five or less years and the percentage of interest is decreasing," said Dosedla. According to him, traditional countries from which the Slovak economy attracted a workforce need to offer more than just an interesting income. He named other factors which influence people to work in Slovakia such as proximity to the home country, allowing daily commuting from neighbouring regions and family or friendly relationships with people who already work in Slovakia. According to the data from the Central Office of Labour Social Affairs and Family, the registered unemployment rate in Slovakia stood at 5.37% in May 2018.
