According to preliminary data, agriculture in Slovakia recorded a positive result for 2017, i.e. a profit before tax of €60.2 million, up by 23.6 percent compared to 2016, TASR learnt from a report by the Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry. "The positive economic performance was also achieved thanks to the stability of the payment of subsidies, with a simultaneous year-on-year improvement in sales of livestock, which partly offset the overall decline in sales from crop farming. Without support, however, most businesses would be loss-making," said the Agriculture Ministry.
