Slovak Interior Minister Denisa Saková highlighted the importance of monitoring and protecting the European Union's external borders in the interests of preserving the Schengen area on Tuesday, during a Budapest meeting involving representatives of interior ministries of the Visegrad Four (V4) group of countries (the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia) as well as Austria. "We'll put an emphasis on effective control and protection of the Schengen external borders in order to preserve Schengen with its principles as it is and not undermine its basic visions," said the minister. Hungarian Interior Minister Sándor Pintér noted that more and more European countries are following the migration policy of the Visegrad group. Polish Minister of the Interior and Administration Joachim Brudziński said that the V4 countries have presented a clear stance on migration issues since the beginning. "It's been confirmed that we've been right," said Brudziński.
