Digitisation big opportunity for tax collection, says Finance Minister

Digitisation is a great opportunity for tax administrations, as it can help achieve the ideal state of fair taxation, Finance Minister Peter Kažimír (Smer-SD) stated on Tuesday at a briefing during the General Assembly of the Intra-European Organisation of Tax Administration (IOTA) in Bratislava. According to the minister, digitisation, on the one hand, causes tax officials to worry, as it's a completely new dimension which old practices aren't able to manage. "But digitisation also provides a huge opportunity for the tax administrations of different countries to be able to exchange information better, to be able to share procedures better, with a single goal of collecting more at existing rates and perhaps achieving an ideal state of fair taxation," said Kažimír.
