Construction of 500-job plant started in Kežmarok

German car components producer Mubea Engineering AG, aiming to employ 500 people in the town of Kežmarok, Prešov region, laid the cornerstone of its plant on Saturday. The producer plans to give jobs to people not only in production but one fifth of employees should also work in research and development, according to Slovak Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini. The registered unemployment rate in the Kežmarok district was at 15% in May 2018. Mubea plans to invest €50 million in the plant. According to Economy Minister Peter Žiga, the company should receive €14 million in state aid, chiefly in the form of tax relief, and the state will also invest €2 million into infrastructure. The plant should start production in the first half of 2019 and should reach its full planned capacity in 2025.
